Out of curiousity - why did it make any difference when the trial happened? 
Don't you think you would have gotten the same publicity either way? A 
week's not that long in judicial time; and the local suburban-centric media 
would have jumped all over the case of the (probably communist) lunatic 
blocking hard-working 'merkins from their god-given right to drive home as 
quickly as possible.
