At the UTC subcommittee meeting last night the following suggestions were made relating to developing proposals for the recent CAMPO STP4C money (in no particular order): 1. Separate Path in Pleasant Valley corridor (Ben White to Oltorf) 2. Barton Springs Road bike lanes (Robert E. Lee to Mopac/Rolling Wood Drive) 3. GIS system development for Bicycle Plan/Program 4. Sidewalk on Kinney Ave. (Barton Springs Rd to Kinney/Virginia) 5. Duval Rd (mopac and continuing north) 6. Any collector streets leading to elementary schools 7. US 290 to Oak Hill (separate path or create an alternate route through neighborhoods) 8. 26th St. under IH 35 to Manor Rd. 9. Sidewalks on South Lamar (Barton Springs southward) 10. Signing and Striping Priority 1 and 2 routes 11. Sidewalk from the North Transit Center at US 183 & Lamar to Jamestown Rd. 12. Sidewalk between St. Joseph and Justin 13. Bike and ped facilities on Peyton Gin Rd. (US 183 to Lamar) Obviously, we cannot develop proposals for all these wonderful ideas in 2 months time. However, we will start a file for the ones not chosen for this round and start to develop them so that hopefully in the future when a call for projects comes from CAMPO we can just pull these babies out of the file and turn them in! Now, realistically, I believe we can develop the 1st three and all sidewalk projects (approximately 8 projects). The GIS development project may be dropped if it does not qualify for STP4C funding. The 26th St. project will be funded by an existing grant. The remaining are very good ideas but cannot be developed in the time we have. Also, we may need to drop one or a few on the sidewalk projects depending on how we do on time. So, we feel comfortable prioritizing them but if you want to put in your 2 cents on priorities please send them to me. The feasible projects to prioritize are in bold. Thanks for your valuable input and attending the meeting.
