Much of Gregg Manor Rd has had its asphalt layer stripped off, preparatory to resurfacing I'd imagine. Might want to steer clear for a while.
I've got about a pint of the stuff I just discovered, sitting around. No need for it anymore. Drop me a line at xxx.

I was riding the Webberville-Manor loop, one of my regulars. I was northbound on Blake Manor Rd, less than a mile from reaching Manor, when I noticed a "no bikes" sign.
I'd never noticed that sign before. I was a more than a bit annoyed since it's not near any turnoffs that a bike could take, and since the road hadn't suddenly become less hospitable to bikes.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how long that sign has been up and what the story behind it is. Seems like it exists only to give the local gendarmerie an excuse to hassle cyclists.
Could somebody please enlighten me on why someone would completely avoid the designated bike lane, and obstruct traffic intentionally?
I'd encourage you to try riding the Great Northern bike lane yourself. Apart from the fact that it's a non-standard layout (somewhat understandable, as there are no intersections along that side) and substandard width, near the curb it is poorly paved, has a fair amount of debris, and occasional obstructions from overhanging vegetation. There are patches where only the northbound lane is really passable.
It's an iffy compromise all around.
