Bicycle Sport Shop used to take old tires. Not sure if they still do.

The City of Austin has a nice web app called "What do I do with...?"

It tells you how to dispose of hundreds of different items.

There's nothing specific about *bicycle* tires, but for tires in general, it says the options are:

(1) Bulk trash pickup, except bulk pickup is suspended at the moment.

(2) Recycle & Reuse Drop-off Center in South Austin, but it's appointment-only, and it's quite a trek for just a single bicycle tire.

How might I go about recycling my bike tire?

After a # of years I have replaced the rear tire on my recumbent. The now useless tire is staring at me. I want to recycle that tire. Internet search for "Austin, TX recycle bike tires" was disappointing .. "bike" being ignored even when I put quotes around it.
