			<description><![CDATA[<div class="quotebox"><blockquote><div><p>Bike commuter severely injured in Kyle collision<br />11:55 AM CDT on Monday, August 25, 2008<br />KVUE News</p><p>A man was rushed to the hospital Monday morning after he collided with a pickup truck while riding a bike.</p><p>It happened on Highway 150 in Kyle.</p><p>Officials say a correctional officer was riding his bike to work westbound on the shoulder of the eastbound lane, when a car headed east came to a sudden stop. 			<description><![CDATA[<div class="quotebox"><blockquote><div><p>Deputy injured in accident dies</p><p>Published: September 04, 2008 07:01 pm</p><p>From staff reports</p><p>A Hays County Sheriff&#039;s Office deputy severely injured when a car hit his bicycle on Monday died today in Austin.</p><p>Transportation Deputy Fernando Amaya died in the intensive care unit of University Hospital at Brackenridge at 12:30 p.m.</p><p>Amaya, 44, was riding his bicycle on FM 150 east of Kyle when he was struck by a vehicle around 7 a.m. He had received massive head injuries, said Sheriff&#039;s spokesman Leroy Opiela.</p><p>Amaya leaves a wife and two sons. A fund has ben set up at the American National Bank in San Marcos, 392-5588. Those wishing to contribute should specify the &quot;Beatriz Amaya for Fernando Amaya&quot; fund.</p><p>Amaya had been with the HCSO for 12 and a half years.</p><p>Funeral arrangements are pending.</p></div></blockquote></div><p><a href="http://www.sanmarcosrecord.com/breakingnews/local_story_248190144.html" rel="ugc">http://www.sanmarcosrecord.com/breaking … 90144.html</a></p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<div class="quotebox"><blockquote><div><p>Deputy dies after auto-bike accident</p><p>Posted: Aug 28, 2008 04:18 PM<br />Updated: Sep 4, 2008 09:17 PM </p><p>SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) -- Hays County Sheriff&#039;s Office Transportation Deputy Fernando Amaya was critically injured in an auto-bicycle collision on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 around 7 a.m. while on his way to work.</p><p>Amaya died Thursday due to massive head injuries suffered in the wreck.</p><p>Amaya&#039;s wife, two children and other family members and friends stayed close at his side as he fought for his life.&#160; &#160;</p><p>Medical bills began to pile up for the Amaya family, and an account to help defray costs was set up at American National Bank in San Marcos. </p><p>The account is in the name of Beatriz Amaya for Fernando Amaya.</p><p>Donations can be made in person or by mailing donations to:</p><p>American National Bank-San Marcos<br />2202 Hunter Road<br />San Marcos, TX 78666</p></div></blockquote></div><p><a href="http://www.kxan.com/Global/story.asp?S=8917309" rel="ugc">http://www.kxan.com/Global/story.asp?S=8917309</a></p>]]></description>
