Looking for an Austin to San Antonio-Alamodome route

We are looking for a route from South Austin to the San Antonio Alamodome.  About 18 rides and 5 Sag vehicles.  Can anyone send over a link with turn-by-turn gps directions or map?  Thanks

Unless you have some particular things you prefer or are trying to avoid, this seems fine  https://goo.gl/maps/mnwkM  I don't personally know it for points beyond San Marcos, but it's nice to there at least.

Ahem, indeed.  I had worked out that route to San Marcos myself just after I moved south years ago and started riding out of town south instead of north only to find later that Adventure Cycling had published it years before that.  It's a nice route and I have sent that very link to a few since, but the advent of Google Maps . . . .

I just now noticed from the link "From S. 1st at the river, head south on S. 1st. (OR take Congress Ave. instead.)    S. 1st is rather busy. Many cyclists prefer S. Congress instead, which is a few blocks west of S. 1st and parallel to it."

I tend to prefer S. 1st to S. Congress -- when riding south of Ben White especially (either north- or south-bound).  But S. 1st is west of S. Congress, of course.

Yesterday i was riding my route to San Marcos. The bridge over the water just south of "5 mile dam" just past the railroad overpass has been seriously washed out. It will take a lot of new construction to fill the wide gap.

With the bridge still out, you can turn off of Old Stagecoach Rd. to go east-ish on Blanco Vista Blvd. (T-intersection is a bit north of the south end of the park), which eventually forces a turn south-ish again to cross over I-35 at 159/Yarrington Rd.  From there you can take the I-35 frontage into town or turn onto 160 and then 161 to get into town.  A good bit farther than it was by going over the bridge.

update:  just before the end of the year, the bridge has a temporary fix installed.  Two railroad cars fitted into the gap for a one-lane bridge.  Probably would be slippery with dew on it, but it's a good fix for now.

update to update:  bridge is down again--looks like a new bridge is being built.

Update part III:  the new bridge recently has been completed and that route to San Marcos is clear again.
