I have seen it too one night several years ago at 6th and Lamar. Drunk driver around midnight ran red light going west on 6th crashed into another car and popped the curb almost ramming the building on the southwest corner.

One could argue, rather successfully, that a lot of politics is the reason why the graphs look the way they do.

#3 Re: Other » Whether to move the email list to Yahoo/Google? » 2009-03-05 10:46:56

If moving to Yahoo/Google what would the point of having the forums be?

It could be reasonable to have a period of transition where if things to move to one of the other groups that say over a 6 month time you give people the option to move to the group.  After the 6 month period no one could respond on the email list but you could sign up the list to get the digest from the group and if they wanted to respond to a topic they would have to sign up.

Anyway, just some thoughts. :)

I would never wear headphones while riding just like I never wear headphones when I drive.  Just seems pretty dangerous because you can't hear anything coming your way! eek!

#5 Re: Other » Pulling the plug on the Bicycle Austin Blog? » 2008-10-13 22:13:00

I was really excited about the BABlog but when no one ever posted anything I stopped going to it.  I thought surely with the line up that said they would write it would be a great blog just like the mailing list/forums are a great way of discussing topics.  My thought goes to the people who were asked to write on the blog were too busy to do so?  Then I came back to a thought long ago that I tried and worked for a bit before people just left the site and that was to have a blog act more like a forum.  Basically allow anyone to start a blog post and have anyone reply.

At any rate, I'm sad to see the BABlog go as I would have loved to read more about what some of the authors had to say.  It definitely pulls me into the site more so than the forums here. :)

#6 Re: Other » Us vs Them » 2008-07-20 19:39:28

I think you did the right thing and not confront the guy.  He was looking for a fight.  Besides no one is going to change his mind about anything no matter what you or anyone else does.  He's a moron, you are very much in the correct.  Anyone with half a brain can see that, too bad this guy can't.  He'll probably live the rest of his life ignorant to all issues that are important and only continue to care about himself.  I wouldn't worry too much.  If you would have gotten into an argument with him it would have been a waste of your time and energy.  I have much respect for how you handled the situation and hope in the future you can keep your cool again.  Not too many people are blessed with keeping their cool. ;)

Just wondering if a link could be put at the top of the page to get back to http://bicycleaustin.info :)

Thanks!
